Final Fantasy VII Revelation could require approximately 200GB of storage when it launches, with director Naoki Hamaguchi confirming that Square Enixs current estimate places the final chapter of the remake trilogy around that size.
Speaking in an interview with VGC, Hamaguchi stressed that development is still ongoing, meaning the final number hasn’t been locked down.
“Things are still getting worked out, but it’s probably going to be around 200GB of game.”
The enormous size isn’t entirely surprising considering Revelation’s expanded scope. The final game will open up the planet for exploration using the Highwind, significantly expanding upon the environments introduced throughout the first two entries.

Physical Copies Will Still Require a Download
The size also helps explain why physical copies of Final Fantasy VII Revelation will require an additional download rather than containing the entire game across multiple discs.
Hamaguchi acknowledged the concerns surrounding the game’s storage requirements but explained that Square Enix needs to work within the limitations of current hardware.
“I understand there are a lot of opinions about this topic, but at the end of the day, the fact is we need to overcome the hardware to a certain extent.”
Even the Piano Minigame Is Getting Bigger
One surprisingly detailed example of Revelation’s expanded content is the returning piano minigame from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
“This time around, that’s been greatly expanded.”
The activity will also provide more meaningful story content this time, specifically involving Tifa.
“It now contains information related to Tifa. You can learn more about Tifa by playing this piano game.”
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled to launch on April 8, 2027, bringing Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy to its conclusion.
