The rumored Ape Escape revival may be in development at Evening Star, the studio founded by developers who previously worked on Sonic Mania.

A new rumor claims Evening Star is developing Sony’s previously reported Ape Escape revival.

The claim comes from AsobiAr, although there is currently no direct evidence confirming the studio’s involvement.

Previous information from insider NateTheHate suggested that Sony is looking to revive dormant franchises and indicated that the rumored Ape Escape project is not being developed by Team Asobi. He also said Bandai Namco was not involved to his knowledge.

Evening Star Linked to Ape Escape Revival

There are several circumstantial details behind the latest rumor.

Evening Star recently advertised for a 3D character artist with experience creating anime-style characters, while CTO Hunter Bridges — who directed Penny’s Big Breakaway — is reportedly an Ape Escape fan.

The studio also has experience with 3D platformers through Penny’s Big Breakaway, while several members of the team previously worked on Sonic Mania.

However, none of this confirms Evening Star is actually developing Ape Escape, and Sony has yet to announce a new entry in the franchise.

For now, Evening Star’s involvement should be treated strictly as a rumor.
