Reacher star Alan Ritchson is reportedly in talks to join Sony Pictures’ upcoming live-action Helldivers movie, potentially replacing Jason Momoa in the project.
According to a new Deadline report, Sony Pictures and Ritchson are currently discussing a deal that would see the actor play one of the Helldivers.
The casting is not yet finalized.
Alan Ritchson Could Replace Jason Momoa
Jason Momoa was previously attached to the Helldivers adaptation but has since departed the project. Director Justin Lin, best known for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise, remains attached.
If negotiations are successful, Ritchson would step into a role as one of the Helldivers, with additional casting announcements expected as production moves forward.
Ritchson is best known for playing Jack Reacher in Prime Video’s Reacher, while his recent film credits include Fast X, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, War Machine and Runner.
Helldivers Movie Arrives in 2027
Sony originally announced the live-action Helldivers adaptation during CES 2025 as part of its continued expansion of PlayStation franchises into film and television.
Plot details remain under wraps, so it is currently unclear how closely the movie will follow the games or which characters and conflicts will appear.
The Helldivers movie is currently scheduled to release on November 10, 2027, with further casting details expected to be announced as the project develops.
