Digital Foundry has named PS5 Pro the best console for The Witcher 3 Remastered, highlighting improved performance, 60 FPS ray tracing and frame rates reaching 80–90 FPS.
The Witcher 3 Remastered has received a detailed technical analysis from Digital Foundry following the release of Patch 5.01.
The update improves performance across PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, addressing several frame rate issues present at launch.
However, PS5 Pro delivers the strongest overall console experience, particularly when it comes to visual quality and performance.

The Witcher 3 Remastered PS5 Pro Performance
According to Digital Foundry’s analysis, PS5 Pro offers two impressive graphical modes:
- Performance Mode: Typically runs between 80–90 FPS on a 120Hz display.
- Ray Tracing Mode: Targets 60 FPS while offering enhanced lighting and visual effects.
Digital Foundry particularly recommends Ray Tracing Mode, which combines improved graphical fidelity with smooth gameplay.
The game also uses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) on PS5 Pro. Although its reconstructed image can appear slightly softer than the base PS5 version in static scenes, the difference is barely noticeable during gameplay.
Patch 5.01 Improves Performance but Issues Remain
Patch 5.01 delivers noticeable improvements across all tested consoles, especially in demanding environments and cutscenes.
However, several issues remain:
- Occasional frame rate drops.
- Screen tearing on displays without VRR.
- Excessive bloom effects that can obscure environmental details.
- Reported crashes on PlayStation consoles.
Players can now reduce bloom intensity through the graphics settings, while a separate PS5 and PS5 Pro hotfix has been released to address crashing problems.
Overall, Digital Foundry considers PS5 Pro the clear winner among console versions, with its 60 FPS ray tracing mode offering an especially strong balance between visuals and performance.
