Astral Ascent appears to be getting a native Nintendo Switch 2 release after the action roguelite received a new rating in Taiwan.

A listing on the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has appeared for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Astral Ascent, with H2 Interactive listed as its publisher. H2 Interactive previously handled the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, which was developed by Hibernian Workshop.

While an official Switch 2 announcement hasn’t been made yet, ratings board listings frequently appear shortly before publishers reveal upcoming releases.

Astral Ascent Already Works on Switch 2

Astral Ascent can already be played on Nintendo Switch 2 through backward compatibility, but the new rating points toward a dedicated version for Nintendo’s newer hardware.

It remains unclear what improvements a native Switch 2 release would offer. The existing version already runs on the system, so the upgrade could potentially focus on performance, resolution or additional content rather than dramatically changing the experience.

There is also the possibility that the Switch 2 release could help bring the Nintendo version closer to the game’s current PC build, although no such update has been confirmed.

Announcement Could Be Coming Soon

The timing of the rating is particularly interesting because Hibernian Workshop has already teased a major announcement for the Triple-I Initiative showcase.

The combination of the new rating and Hibernian Workshop's upcoming announcement gives fans another reason to watch the Triple-I Initiative showcase, although there is currently no confirmation the two are connected.

For now, neither Hibernian Workshop nor H2 Interactive has formally announced Astral Ascent for Nintendo Switch 2, meaning details such as its release date, upgrades and potential new content remain unknown.
