Ubisoft CEO Says Watch Dogs Could Return, Potential Remake Mentioned

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says Watch Dogs remains important to the company’s future, despite the franchise currently being absent from Ubisoft’s new Creative House structure.

During Ubisoft’s annual meeting, investors questioned Guillemot about the future of Watch Dogs and why the series has not been assigned to one of the company’s Creative Houses.

Guillemot explained that Watch Dogs is not expected to join a Creative House for the moment, while also making an interesting reference to the franchise potentially being remade in the future.

Watch Dogs Could Still Return

While Guillemot’s comments do not confirm that a Watch Dogs remake is currently in development, they suggest Ubisoft has not abandoned the franchise.

The original Watch Dogs launched in 2014, followed by Watch Dogs 2 in 2016 and Watch Dogs: Legion in 2020.

There could also be movement before any potential remake. According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is currently planning a Watch Dogs: Legion Director’s Cut for the first half of 2027.

The future of the franchise has remained uncertain during Ubisoft’s ongoing restructuring, which has divided many of its major properties between several Creative Houses.

For now, Watch Dogs remains outside that structure, but Guillemot’s comments indicate Ubisoft still sees a future for the series.
