Marvel’s Wolverine is receiving a dramatically warmer early response from PlayStation players than critics, with its PlayStation Store rating currently equivalent to roughly 97/100.

Insomniac Games‘ latest PS5 exclusive launched today with a 77 Metacritic score based on 117 critic reviews, but thousands of players are already rating the game considerably higher.

Marvel’s Wolverine Has a 4.84/5 Player Rating

At the time of writing, Marvel’s Wolverine has a 4.84 out of 5 rating on the PlayStation Store from around 6,400 ratings.

Converted to a 100-point scale, that works out to approximately 96.8/100, or 97/100 when rounded.

That’s around 20 points higher than the game’s current Metacritic score, creating a significant early gap between critic and player reception.

It’s Still Very Early

There is one important caveat: Marvel’s Wolverine has only just launched.

PlayStation Store users can submit a rating after purchasing the game and do not need to finish it first, meaning the current score largely reflects its earliest adopters. The average could change substantially as more people buy and play the game.

Still, the initial response suggests that players are enjoying Wolverine considerably more than its 77 Metacritic score might imply.
