Arkane Lyon Faces Closure as Marvel’s Blade Developer Races to Find a Buyer

Arkane Lyon, the studio behind Dishonored and the upcoming Marvel’s Blade, faces potential closure unless it secures new funding or a buyer before November 13, 2026.

According to a report from Le Monde, approximately 217 jobs are at risk as Microsoft continues restructuring its Xbox gaming division.

French employment regulations require Microsoft to complete a consultation process and explore potential buyers before closing the studio.

Marvel’s Blade Development Reportedly Nearing Completion

Union representatives claim that Marvel’s Blade, announced in December 2023, is approaching the final stages of production.

However, the game’s future remains uncertain while negotiations continue.

Studio representatives have criticized Microsoft’s handling of the situation, describing Arkane Lyon as a casualty of Xbox’s changing business strategy.

The potential closure follows significant restructuring across Microsoft’s gaming operations, including layoffs and changes affecting several development studios.

Bloomberg Journalist Offers Hope for Arkane Lyon

Despite the uncertainty, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has shared a more optimistic assessment.

According to Schreier, multiple options are being explored to preserve the studio, and he would be surprised if Arkane Lyon ultimately closed.

However, he emphasized that negotiations remain unpredictable.

November 13 is currently the key deadline, with Arkane Lyon’s future and the fate of Marvel’s Blade still awaiting confirmation.
