Naughty Dog Reportedly Has Another Single-Player Game That Isn’t The Last of Us

Naughty Dog may have another major single-player game in development beyond Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, with insider NateTheHate claiming Shaun Escay’s project is not connected to The Last of Us.

Naughty Dog confirmed back in December 2023 that it was working on more than one ambitious single-player game. One of those projects was eventually revealed as Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, while the identity of the other has remained unknown.

According to insider NateTheHate, that mystery project is still separate from The Last of Us and is being directed by Shaun Escay, who has reportedly been leading development for roughly four years.

Naughty Dog Could Have Four Projects in Development

The distinction has become particularly interesting following Neil Druckmann’s latest update on the future of The Last of Us.

During The Last of Us Day, Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog currently has two projects set in The Last of Us universe in very early development, both of which will expand the canon beyond Part I and Part II.

However, NateTheHate claims Escay’s game is not related to The Last of Us, meaning it would be separate from both of those newly confirmed projects.

If the information is accurate, Naughty Dog’s known development slate would therefore include Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Shaun Escay’s unannounced single-player game and two early-stage The Last of Us projects.

It remains unclear what form those two Last of Us projects will take, while virtually nothing is known about Escay’s game beyond the claim that it is unrelated to the franchise.

Naughty Dog has not officially announced Shaun Escay’s project, so its identity and current development status remain unconfirmed.
