Sony has started rolling out PS5 system software update 26.06-14.00.00, bringing an important PSSR change for PS5 Pro alongside new voice chat and Welcome Hub features.
The new firmware is more substantial than the usual stability update, with Sony adding several quality-of-life improvements across PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Enhanced PSSR Is Now Enabled by Default on PS5 Pro
The biggest change for PS5 Pro owners is that Enhance PSSR Image Quality is now enabled by default after installing the update.
This allows the enhanced version of PSSR to be used even with games that support the previous version of the technology, potentially providing a sharper and clearer image.
Players who prefer to disable it can still do so through Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality.
Voice Chat and Welcome Hub Get New Features
PS5 can now display the name of the person currently speaking during a voice chat. The indicator can be enabled from the voice chat card through More > Display Who’s Speaking > Display Names, with an additional option to choose its position on screen.
Sony has also introduced a Community Activity widget for the Welcome Hub with two views:
- Trending Now – shows 10 multiplayer games or modes currently surging in popularity.
- Top 10 – shows the 10 most popular games from the previous week in your country or region.
The update also makes changes to the Turn Off Bluetooth option in supported regions, primarily intended for controller management at esports venues and similar environments.
And, naturally, Sony says the update includes further improvements to system software performance and stability.
PS5 firmware update 26.06-14.00.00 is rolling out now and should become available across supported consoles shortly.
