Sony has revealed its next generation of PlayStation audio products with the new PlayStation Pulse and premium Pulse Edge wireless headsets, both featuring planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link connectivity.
The refreshed lineup builds on the technology introduced with the Pulse Elite in 2024, with Sony promising improved bass, spatial accuracy and clearer directional audio.
PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge Features
Both headsets feature larger custom planar magnetic drivers designed to provide better sound separation and deeper bass. They also support PlayStation Link, delivering lossless, ultra-low latency wireless audio across PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac.
Bluetooth devices can be connected simultaneously, while integrated microphones use AI-enhanced noise rejection to reduce background noise during voice chat.
Sony has also redesigned the headsets with rotating earcups that can lay flat for easier transport. Both models will be available in White and Midnight Black.
Pulse Edge Adds ANC and More Powerful Drivers
The premium Pulse Edge doubles the magnet volume of the standard Pulse, using eight magnets per planar driver compared to four.
It also adds several features missing from the standard model:
- Active Noise Cancellation
- Detachable boom microphone
- Hidden microphone for use without the boom mic
- Game and chat balance controls on PS5
- Audio/microphone jack
- Carrying case
Both models include a PlayStation Link adapter with a USB-C connector and built-in volume controls.
Release Dates and Prices Coming Soon
The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset will launch in select markets during the 2026 holiday season, while the premium Pulse Edge Wireless Headset is scheduled for early 2027.
Sony has not yet announced pricing, exact release dates or preorder dates for either headset, with additional launch details expected later.
