Capcom Reports Record Profits and Over 59 Million Games Sold

Capcom has officially revealed its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026 — and the legendary publisher continues to dominate.

According to the company, Capcom has now achieved record-breaking profits for the ninth consecutive year, while also surpassing its all-time game sales record with an incredible 59.07 million units sold during the fiscal year.

Resident Evil Requiem Led the Charge

The biggest contributor to Capcom’s recent success was Resident Evil Requiem, which launched earlier this year and quickly became one of the company’s strongest-performing releases.

Capcom confirmed that the game sold:

  • 6.91 million copies within its first two months

The publisher also revealed that the overwhelming majority of its business now comes from digital sales and older catalog titles.

According to the report:

  • 83.7% of game sales came from older titles
  • 93% of total game sales were digital downloads

The Resident Evil franchise specifically remained Capcom’s strongest-performing series overall.

Capcom Expects a 10th Consecutive Record Year

Looking ahead, Capcom already expects the next fiscal year to continue the trend.

The company is forecasting:

  • 210 billion yen in net sales
  • 83 billion yen in operating profit

If achieved, that would mark Capcom’s 10th straight year of record profits.

Capcom Expanding Beyond Games

Beyond game sales, Capcom also highlighted continued growth through:

  • Movies and adaptations
  • Character merchandise
  • Esports initiatives
  • Arcade operations
  • Pachislot machine business

The publisher says it continues leveraging its biggest franchises across multiple entertainment sectors to strengthen long-term profitability.

PRAGMATA, Onimusha, and Street Fighter Leading the Future

Capcom’s next fiscal year is already packed with major upcoming projects.

The company specifically highlighted future contributions from:

Capcom appears particularly focused on continuing user growth around Street Fighter 6 through esports support and media expansion.

Capcom Also Investing Heavily Into AI

Interestingly, Capcom also confirmed it is actively researching and utilizing generative AI technology to improve game development efficiency.

According to the company, AI is being explored to help optimize development workflows and increase productivity across internal teams.

“The Company continues to aggressively pursue growth investments aimed at building its development environment,” Capcom explained.

The company specifically referenced:

  • proprietary engine technology,
  • advanced development tools,
  • and generative AI systems.

The comments follow a broader trend across the industry, with companies like Sony recently discussing how AI could shape the future of PlayStation game development alongside partners like Bandai Namco.

For now though, Capcom’s strategy clearly seems to be working — because nine consecutive years of record profits is honestly kind of insane.
