Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will receive a dedicated PS5 Pro version — and honestly, it sounds like the remake could become one of the biggest visual showcases for Sony’s upgraded hardware so far.
The confirmation comes directly from game director Richard Knight, who revealed that the development team is actively looking into supporting Sony’s upgraded PSSR technology alongside multiple visual and performance enhancements.
Black Flag Resynced Is Targeting PS5 Pro’s Upgraded PSSR
Speaking in a recent interview with Wccftech, Richard Knight confirmed that the team “definitely” wants to support the upgraded version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, also known as PSSR.
Knight even revealed that he personally owns a PS5 Pro himself, with the studio actively exploring ways to fully utilize the console’s enhanced upscaling technology.
While Ubisoft still hasn’t shared exact technical details, players can reportedly expect:
- Improved visual fidelity
- Better image quality
- Enhanced performance
- Sharper presentation overall
And honestly?
Considering how gorgeous Black Flag Resynced already looks from trailers alone, the PS5 Pro version could end up looking ridiculous.

Ubisoft Has Completely Rebuilt Black Flag From the Ground Up
Unlike a simple remaster, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has reportedly been rebuilt entirely from scratch.
The remake introduces:
- Fully modernized visuals
- Expanded gameplay systems
- New mechanics
- Improved world detail
- Additional quests and activities
- Enhanced naval gameplay
Ubisoft has also heavily upgraded environmental density and lighting systems throughout the Caribbean world.
And honestly?
This increasingly sounds less like a basic remake and more like a full modern reinterpretation of Black Flag.

Players Will Receive Around Six Additional Hours of Content
Richard Knight also revealed that Black Flag Resynced includes roughly six extra hours of gameplay content compared to the original release.
That additional content reportedly includes:
- New quests
- Officer missions
- Expanded side activities
- Additional exploration opportunities
At the same time, Knight explained that overall playtime will vary significantly depending on player style.
Some players may finish the main experience in roughly 15 hours, while completionists could easily spend over 40 hours exploring everything the game offers.
The Entire World Is Now Seamless
One of the most interesting upgrades is that the remake’s world has reportedly become “entirely seamless.”
According to Knight, players can now travel much more naturally throughout the Caribbean without many of the transitions and interruptions found in the original game.
Combined with the enhanced pirate mechanics and naval systems, Ubisoft clearly wants exploration to feel much more immersive this time around.
More Sea Shanties and a New “Shanty Player” Feature
Yes…
Ubisoft also confirmed additional sea shanties are being added.
And honestly, that alone probably already sold the remake to half the fanbase.
The game introduces a brand-new “Shanty Player” mechanic that allows players to cycle through unlocked sea shanties freely using the D-pad.
Meaning players can essentially build their own pirate soundtrack while sailing across the world.
Black Flag Resynced Is Already Building Massive Momentum
Ubisoft recently revealed that Black Flag Resynced has already surpassed one million wishlists, while early pre-order numbers are reportedly performing extremely well globally — especially in China.
And honestly?
Between the upgraded visuals, expanded gameplay, PS5 Pro support, and nostalgic hype surrounding Edward Kenway…
…it really feels like Ubisoft may have a massive hit on its hands this summer.
