Grand Theft Auto 6 looks set to make social media a much bigger part of its open world than any previous game in the series.
New retailer listings suggest Rockstar Games has built an extensive in-game social network system that allows players to browse viral videos, follow influencers, and even discover side missions directly through their in-game smartphone.
GTA 6’s Social Media Could Be Fully Integrated Into Gameplay
Recent product listings from Brazilian retailers have revealed several previously unseen details about Grand Theft Auto 6.
According to the descriptions, players will be able to use Jason and Lucia’s in-game phone to interact with multiple social media platforms that mirror modern apps and internet culture.
One listing describes the feature as:
“The big innovation is the integration of in-game social networks. Your character’s cell phone consumes viral videos in real time, allowing you to follow Vice City influencers and discover secret side missions through the networks.”
A separate Amazon Brazil listing echoes the same information, stating that players can:
- Watch viral videos
- Follow influencers
- Discover world events
- Unlock content through the in-game mobile phone
While Rockstar Games has yet to officially confirm these specific features, both retailer descriptions align closely with what has already been teased in the game’s trailers.
Rockstar Appears to Be Expanding GTA’s Internet Satire
Social media has always existed inside the GTA universe.
Grand Theft Auto V introduced parody platforms inspired by real-world services, including:
- Lifeinvader (Facebook)
- Bleeter (Twitter/X)
- Snapmatic (Instagram)
Based on everything shown so far, GTA 6 appears ready to take that concept much further.
The first trailer already showcased livestreams, short-form vertical videos, influencers, memes, and user-generated content, suggesting social media will become a living part of everyday life throughout Leonida.
Social Media May Lead Players to Hidden Content
Perhaps the most interesting detail is the suggestion that social media won’t simply be cosmetic.
Retailer descriptions indicate that viral posts and influencer content could actively point players toward hidden events, secret side missions, and dynamic activities happening across the world.
If accurate, this would create another organic way for players to discover content without relying solely on map markers or mission icons.
Rockstar Has Yet to Officially Confirm the Details
It’s worth noting that these features originate from retailer product pages rather than Rockstar Games itself.
Although multiple listings describe the same functionality, it’s currently unknown whether the information comes directly from Rockstar’s marketing materials or was generated by retailers ahead of launch.
Fortunately, with Grand Theft Auto 6 scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, players likely won’t have to wait much longer to learn exactly how the game’s ambitious social media systems work.
