Microsoft has officially confirmed its plans for Gamescom 2026, revealing a packed lineup of first-party and third-party games that attendees will be able to see and, in many cases, play for the very first time.
The annual gaming event, taking place in Cologne, Germany, will serve as one of Xbox’s biggest showcases of the year as the company celebrates 25 years of the Xbox brand.
For fans unable to attend in person, Microsoft has also confirmed that it will host a live broadcast covering the event’s biggest announcements and gameplay reveals.
Xbox’s Biggest Games Head to Gamescom
According to Xbox Wire, several major upcoming titles will headline Microsoft’s booth, including:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
- Gears of War: E-Day
- Minecraft Dungeons 2
- Fable
- METRO 2039
- STRANGER THAN HEAVEN
The showcase will feature playable demos, developer presentations, and hands-on opportunities across multiple highly anticipated releases.
Gears of War: E-Day Playable for the First Time
One of the biggest attractions at Gamescom will be Gears of War: E-Day, which will receive its first public playable campaign demo.
Players will experience the opening chapter of the Locust War while witnessing the beginning of the legendary partnership between Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago ahead of the game’s October 6, 2026 launch.

Fans will also be able to play Minecraft Dungeons 2 for the very first time.

Microsoft says the presentation will highlight the smooth and responsive combat system while offering the public its most detailed gameplay demonstration yet.
Stranger Than Heaven Makes Its Public Debut
Another notable appearance comes from STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, which will receive its first playable demo.
Players will step into the role of Makoto Daito and experience the game’s unique combat system, which allows independent control of the character’s left and right sides.
The demo will also showcase several of the game’s Japanese locations spanning multiple eras across its 50-year narrative.
Explore Moscow in METRO 2039
Fans of post-apocalyptic shooters can also go hands-on with METRO 2039 before its planned February 2027 release.
Developed by 4A Games, the demo will let players explore the devastated ruins of Moscow while experiencing the survival mechanics, exploration, and atmospheric storytelling that have defined the Metro series.

Gamescom 2026 arrives during an important period for Microsoft’s gaming business, with the company undergoing major restructuring while continuing to invest in its biggest franchises.
