Sony Could Hold a PlayStation State of Play in September 2026

Sony could be preparing another PlayStation State of Play for September 2026, according to reliable insider NateTheHate, although an exact date for the rumored presentation has yet to be revealed.

Gamescom 2026 might be over, but PlayStation could already be preparing its next major round of announcements.

Reliable industry insider NateTheHate has suggested that Sony is likely to hold a new State of Play presentation sometime in September 2026.

No specific date has been provided, and Sony has yet to officially announce the event, so the information should still be treated as a rumor for now.

However, September would hardly be an unusual choice.

PlayStation State of Play Could Return in September

Sony has established something of a tradition of holding PlayStation presentations during September.

The previous two years both featured events toward the end of the month, with presentations taking place on September 25 in 2025 and September 24 in 2024.

Sony has gone earlier in the month before as well. In 2021, for example, a major PlayStation Showcase was held on September 9.

That history makes NateTheHate’s latest claim entirely plausible, although there’s currently no indication whether Sony would once again target the final weeks of September.

There’s also no information yet regarding how long the presentation might be or which games could appear.

September Is Already a Huge Month for PlayStation

The timing would make plenty of sense considering what’s coming next for PlayStation.

Marvel’s Wolverine is set to become one of Sony’s biggest releases of the year, with Insomniac Games preparing to bring Logan’s adventure exclusively to PS5.

A September State of Play would give Sony another opportunity to showcase the game around its launch window while also looking ahead to the company’s upcoming slate.

The wider release calendar is becoming increasingly crowded as well.

With Grand Theft Auto 6 arriving in November, publishers have a relatively small window to launch their biggest games before Rockstar’s blockbuster dominates the end of the year.

Titles including Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered and Final Fantasy Resonance are among the releases expected over the coming months, giving Sony plenty of potential third-party material for another State of Play.

What Could Sony Show at the Next State of Play?

Until Sony officially announces the presentation, its potential lineup is entirely speculative.

Marvel’s Wolverine would be an obvious candidate given its importance to PlayStation’s 2026 lineup, while Sony could also use the event to provide updates on previously announced first-party projects and upcoming third-party releases.

A few surprises wouldn’t be unexpected either.

State of Play presentations regularly combine major PlayStation Studios updates with smaller announcements, new trailers, release dates and third-party partnerships.

For now, though, the only claim is that another PlayStation State of Play is likely to happen in September 2026.

With the month about to begin, we may not have to wait long to find out whether the report is accurate.
