Call of Duty is preparing to close the book on its rebooted Modern Warfare storyline, with Activision describing Modern Warfare 4 as the “epic conclusion” to the series that began in 2019.

The upcoming game will bring the current Modern Warfare narrative to an end, wrapping up the story surrounding Captain Price, Ghost, Gaz and the rest of Task Force 141.

Modern Warfare 4 Will End the Rebooted Story

The current era began with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2019, which rebooted the iconic subseries and introduced new versions of several familiar characters.

That storyline continued through Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III, with Modern Warfare 4 now positioned as its final chapter.

Activision calling the game an “epic conclusion” makes its role particularly clear: rather than simply serving as another entry in the ongoing Modern Warfare storyline, the upcoming title is being positioned as the ending to this version of Task Force 141’s story.

Exactly what that conclusion means for Price, Ghost, Gaz and the wider cast remains to be seen, with further campaign details still to come.
