Ghost of Yotei has received a surprise update of approximately 29GB on PS5, preparing the game for its upcoming Complete Edition and Echoes of Sekigahara expansion while also making several new features available early.
The large download doesn’t mean Echoes of Sekigahara has launched ahead of schedule. Instead, the update appears to prepare the base game for the major refresh arriving alongside the Complete Edition on October 1, 2026.
However, players have discovered that some of the previously announced features are already accessible following the update.
Beauty of Yotei Mode Is Available Now
One of the biggest additions is the new Beauty of Yotei mode, which can now be accessed directly from the main menu.
Described as a “world showcase mode,” the feature lets players experience different locations across the game with slow cinematic framing and music designed to highlight the atmosphere and scenery of Ghost of Yotei.
It essentially offers a more cinematic way to revisit and appreciate the game’s world without focusing on its regular combat and exploration systems.
Ghost of Yotei Finally Gets Transmog
The update also appears to have activated the game’s new transmog system.
Players can now retain the appearance of their preferred weapons and armor while using the stats of different equipment, allowing more freedom when customizing Atsu without sacrificing preferred gear bonuses.
Additionally, the PS5 Trophy lists for both the upcoming Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and Most Wanted mode have now gone live.
Complete Edition Launches October 1
The majority of Ghost of Yotei‘s Complete Edition content is still scheduled to become available on October 1, 2026, meaning today’s update is primarily laying the groundwork for what’s coming next.
That includes the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and additional content surrounding the game’s major refresh.
For now, existing Ghost of Yotei players can download the roughly 29GB update and start experimenting with Beauty of Yotei and transmog ahead of the full October rollout.
