Control Resonant Game Length Confirmed Ahead of Launch

Remedy Entertainment has revealed how long players can expect to spend in Control Resonant, with the upcoming action RPG set to be significantly larger than the original Control.

In a recent interview, lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov shared estimated completion times for both the main story and 100% completion, giving fans a better idea of the game’s overall scope before its release next month.

Main Story Will Take Around 30 Hours

According to Mohov, players focusing primarily on the main campaign can expect Control Resonant to take approximately 30 hours to complete.

Those aiming to experience everything the game has to offer—including optional activities, exploration, and side content—can expect a playtime closer to 50 hours.

That makes Resonant substantially larger than the original Control, whose average completion times were considerably shorter.

Estimated Playtimes

  • Main Story: ~30 hours
  • Completionist Playthrough: ~50 hours

A Much Bigger Experience Than Control

For comparison, the original Control generally required:

  • Around 11 hours for the main story.
  • Roughly 19 hours when including side missions.
  • Close to 30 hours for full completion.

The new figures suggest that Control Resonant nearly doubles the scope of its predecessor, offering a significantly larger campaign alongside much more optional content.

Inspired by Devil May Cry and PlatinumGames

Mohov also discussed some of the games that influenced Resonant’s combat design.

Among the biggest inspirations are:

  • Devil May Cry 2
  • Devil May Cry 3
  • Games developed by PlatinumGames

While players may notice familiar design ideas or combat philosophies, Mohov emphasized that Resonant is not attempting to copy any single game. Instead, the team drew inspiration from a wide variety of action titles to create its own identity.

New Players Can Jump In

Good news for newcomers: Remedy says you do not need to play the original Control before starting Resonant.

According to Mohov, the new game is designed to be approachable for first-time players.

However, returning fans will benefit from additional story context, and those unfamiliar with the events of the first game can watch a built-in Control story recap available from the main menu before beginning their adventure.

Remedy’s Biggest Control Game Yet

With a 30-hour main campaign, an estimated 50 hours of completionist content, deeper action combat, and a more RPG-focused structure, Control Resonant is shaping up to be the studio’s most ambitious entry in the series so far.

Whether you’re returning to the mysterious world of the Federal Bureau of Control or experiencing it for the first time, Resonant promises a much larger adventure when it launches next month.
