Daba: Land of Water Scar has returned with a new trailer during PlayStation’s September 2026 State of Play, offering another look at the atmospheric PS5-exclusive action RPG after a lengthy period without major updates.

First announced in 2023, Daba: Land of Water Scar is being developed by Dark Star as part of PlayStation’s China Hero Project, an initiative designed to support China-based developers and bring their games to a global audience.

The latest trailer puts the spotlight back on its dark world, fast-paced combat and Soulslike influences.

Players take control of a clay puppet that has become human, journeying through a dying world where water has disappeared and a mysterious plague spreads across the land.

The adventure will take players through ruined snowfields, deserts and other devastated environments while battling enemies and powerful bosses.

The new trailer also emphasizes the game’s twin-blade combat and supernatural themes, with fallen gods and shattered souls playing an important role in its story.

A Soulslike PS5 Exclusive From the China Hero Project

Daba combines action RPG combat with clear Soulslike elements, including demanding enemy encounters and large boss battles.

Its latest showing provides a much-needed update after several years of relatively limited information following the original 2023 announcement.

The game remains part of Sony’s growing China Hero Project lineup and is currently being developed as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

A specific release date was not announced during the State of Play presentation, meaning players will have to wait a little longer to find out when Daba’s mysterious journey begins.
