Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is officially heading to Gamescom 2026, with Square Enix confirming that fans will get a brand-new look at the highly anticipated conclusion to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi will appear during Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom Opening Night Live to showcase more of the game ahead of its planned 2027 release.
With Revelation set to conclude one of Square Enix’s most ambitious projects, the upcoming presentation could provide one of our most substantial looks at the game so far.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Confirmed for Gamescom ONL
Square Enix announced the appearance through the official Final Fantasy 7 social media channels.
A new look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be shown during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, with Hamaguchi involved in the presentation.
Exactly what Square Enix intends to reveal hasn’t been confirmed.
However, with the game currently targeting spring 2027, development is far enough along that fans could potentially see additional gameplay, locations, characters, or story footage during the presentation.
Whatever Square Enix has prepared, Revelation will undoubtedly be one of the most closely watched games appearing during Opening Night Live.
Revelation Will Conclude the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation represents the third and final chapter of the remake project that began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake and continued with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Hamaguchi has recently been much more open about what players should expect from the finale, particularly regarding how Square Enix intends to conclude the story.
One thing the director has made clear is that players won’t need DLC to experience the actual ending.
The main game will provide a complete conclusion to the trilogy rather than ending on a cliffhanger that requires players to purchase an expansion.
Hamaguchi has stressed that the development team is serious about bringing the Remake trilogy to a proper conclusion with Revelation.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s Ending Remains a Mystery
While Hamaguchi has confirmed that Revelation will provide a definitive conclusion, he has carefully avoided revealing exactly what that ending will look like.
The director previously suggested that the finale could remain faithful to the original Final Fantasy 7, move in an entirely different direction, or potentially deliver something players haven’t even considered.
That uncertainty has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding Revelation.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth have already made significant changes to the original game’s story while introducing concepts surrounding fate and alternative possibilities.
Revelation will ultimately have to bring those ideas together while concluding the journeys of Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Sephiroth, and the rest of the cast.

DLC Could Focus on Individual Characters
Although the trilogy’s ending won’t be locked behind additional content, that doesn’t necessarily mean Final Fantasy 7 Revelation won’t receive DLC.
Hamaguchi has previously discussed the possibility of character-focused expansions that explore stories outside the main narrative.
The director compared the idea to Episode INTERmission, the Yuffie-focused expansion released for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.
Such DLC could allow Square Enix to explore characters or events that don’t naturally fit into Revelation’s main story without interfering with the trilogy’s conclusion.
No DLC has officially been announced, however, and Hamaguchi has described these ideas as hypothetical.
Gamescom Could Be a Major Moment for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation
With Revelation currently planned for spring 2027, Gamescom arrives at an interesting point in the game’s development and marketing cycle.
Square Enix has gradually started revealing more information about the finale, while Hamaguchi has been increasingly willing to discuss the team’s ambitions for concluding the trilogy.
