Helldivers 2 is joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, giving Extra and Premium subscribers access to Arrowhead Game Studios’ hugely successful co-op shooter at no additional cost.
The PlayStation Plus release arrives alongside the new Devoid of Liberty update, which introduces fresh missions, mutated enemies, expanded progression, and SEAF soldiers who can now join Helldivers directly on the battlefield.
It’s a substantial update for a game that has continued to expand since its original 2024 launch.

Helldivers 2 Joins PlayStation Plus Game Catalog
Helldivers 2 will be available to download through the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog starting today.
The addition should introduce another wave of players to the Galactic War more than two years after the game’s original release.
Arrowhead is also giving the PlayStation community a collective challenge to celebrate the occasion.
Players need to eliminate 500 million enemies by August 18. If the community successfully reaches that target, four special Helldivers-themed PlayStation avatars will be unlocked.
Existing players aren’t being left without something new to do, either, as the PlayStation Plus arrival coincides with the release of Devoid of Liberty.
Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty Adds New Missions
The Devoid of Liberty update expands the ongoing war against the Illuminate with several new mission types and objectives.
Helldivers will be tasked with attacking and destroying Illuminate spires and gateways, conducting data reconnaissance operations, and infiltrating Illuminate structures alongside their squads.
New secondary objectives have also been introduced.
These include eliminating dangerous Void mutations, extracting valuable materials for research, and opening secondary extraction zones that can help squads escape from operations more quickly.
Combined with the new enemies, these missions are designed to make Illuminate operations even more unpredictable.
New Mutated Enemies Join the Fight
Devoid of Liberty introduces several dangerous mutated organisms, including The Wretch and The Crusher.
The Wretch relies on speed and mobility. It can quickly overwhelm poorly prepared Helldivers while using its agility to avoid incoming counterattacks.
The Crusher sits at the opposite end of the spectrum.
This heavily built mutation is capable of absorbing significant amounts of punishment while also dealing devastating damage, making it a much more direct threat during combat.
Players will need to adapt their loadouts and squad tactics accordingly when these new mutations appear during missions.

SEAF Platoons Can Now Fight Alongside Helldivers
One of the more interesting additions is expanded support from the Super Earth Armed Forces.
SEAF platoons can now arrive on the battlefield aboard dropships and actively assist Helldivers during operations.
Rather than Super Earth’s conventional military remaining mostly in the background, players can now see its soldiers directly participating in battles alongside their squads.
It should make some of the game’s larger engagements feel considerably more like an ongoing planetary war.
Helldivers 2 Progression Expands to 300 Ranks
Long-term players are also receiving another progression target.
The Devoid of Liberty update allows Helldivers to progress through 300 ranks of security access and privileges, with additional rank titles available as players continue climbing through the system.
Between the expanded progression, new missions, mutated enemies, SEAF reinforcements, and arrival on PlayStation Plus, Devoid of Liberty represents another significant expansion for Helldivers 2.
And with PlayStation Plus potentially bringing a large influx of new recruits into the fight, Super Earth certainly won’t be short on Helldivers.
Helldivers 2 is available through the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog starting today, with the Devoid of Liberty update available alongside it.
