May 2026 continues to be one of the strangest months for major game launches, as another highly anticipated title has reportedly become playable ahead of release — this time involving LEGO Batman: The Dark Knight.
The situation comes shortly after the massive Forza Horizon 6 leak, where players allegedly gained access to over 155 GB of game files before launch.
Now, it appears Gotham’s Dark Knight has joined the chaos.
LEGO Batman: The Dark Knight Reportedly Went Live Early on Xbox
According to multiple posts shared online, select players were briefly able to access and play LEGO Batman: The Dark Knight ahead of its official launch date.
A Reddit user known as Dramatic-Track-9935 shared several screenshots allegedly showing the game fully installed and running on Xbox hardware.
Based on reports from the community, the early access issue seems to have specifically affected users who redeemed a Walmart digital code version of the game.
Walmart Digital Codes Allegedly Triggered Full Access
Players claim that after redeeming their Walmart preorder code and beginning the preload process, the game simply unlocked completely once the download finished.
Instead of remaining locked until launch day, users reportedly gained immediate access to the full game.
Naturally, screenshots, gameplay clips, and discussions quickly began spreading across Reddit and social media.
Early Access Has Already Been Patched
Unfortunately for anyone hoping to replicate the trick, the loophole appears to have already been fixed.
According to players following the situation, the game has now been locked back down, preventing additional users from accessing it early.
However, a small number of players reportedly managed to spend several hours with the game before the patch went live.
Another Massive Leak Month for Gaming
The situation adds to an increasingly bizarre trend throughout May 2026, where multiple major releases have either leaked early or accidentally become playable before launch.
Most notably, Forza Horizon 6 recently experienced a huge preload leak that allegedly exposed the full game online ahead of release.
With digital storefronts, preload systems, and early-access infrastructure becoming more complicated every year, incidents like these appear to be happening more frequently across the industry.
For now, though, it looks like TT Games and Warner Bros. Games have managed to regain control of Gotham before things escalated even further.
