Little Nightmares 3 Gets New ‘The Backstage’ DLC Next Week

Fans of Little Nightmares III won’t have to wait much longer for their next trip into The Spiral.

During the Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2026, Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games officially revealed The Backstage, the first major story expansion for Little Nightmares III, which is set to launch on June 12, 2026.

And judging by the trailer, things are about to get even more disturbing.

Returning to the Dark Corners of The Carnevale

The Backstage takes players beneath the surface of The Carnevale, one of Little Nightmares III’s most unsettling locations.

According to the developers, the DLC explores the hidden underbelly of the twisted attraction, revealing secrets that were previously hidden from players during the main story.

“This additional tale enriches the experience and lets you uncover hidden secrets, new perspectives, and unexpected horrors,” reads the official description.

And honestly?

If the trailer is anything to go by, there will be plenty of horrors waiting in the shadows.

The First Part of a Larger Expansion Pass

The Backstage serves as the opening chapter of the Secrets of Spiral Expansion Pass, which includes two separate story DLCs.

While details regarding the second expansion remain limited, Bandai Namco has confirmed that it will further expand the lore of The Spiral and continue exploring areas beyond the main campaign.

Current plans suggest the second DLC will arrive sometime between October and December 2026.

More Nightmares Await

The reveal trailer showcased several new environments filled with the series’ trademark creepy atmosphere, bizarre creatures, and unsettling imagery.

As always, Little Nightmares relies less on traditional jump scares and more on psychological horror, environmental storytelling, and the constant feeling that something terrible could happen at any moment.

That formula helped turn the franchise into one of the most unique horror series of the last decade.

A New Era for the Franchise

Released in October 2025, Little Nightmares III marked a significant transition for the series.

It was the first entry developed by Supermassive Games, taking over development duties from Tarsier Studios, which created the first two games.

Although reception was slightly more divided than previous entries, the game successfully expanded the universe and introduced players to new areas of The Spiral.

Now, The Backstage aims to deepen that world even further.

The Little Nightmares Universe Keeps Growing

The franchise has become much larger than a traditional game series.

Earlier this year, players received Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes, bringing the series into virtual reality for the first time. Meanwhile, former developers at Tarsier Studios are currently working on entirely new projects inspired by some of the ideas that made Little Nightmares so successful.

Despite the change in development teams, Bandai Namco clearly has no intention of slowing down.

The First of More Horrors to Come

With The Backstage arriving on June 12, players will soon have another reason to return to The Spiral.

Between new story content, hidden secrets, and the promise of even more expansions later this year, Little Nightmares III’s post-launch support is only just beginning.

And if the series has taught us anything over the years, it’s that every dark corridor hides something even worse around the corner.
