Resident Evil: Code Veronica And Resident Evil Zero Remakes Could Connect Directly To Requiem

The future of the Resident Evil franchise may be more interconnected than fans initially expected.

Following the official reveal of Resident Evil: Code Veronica during Summer Game Fest 2026 and continuing rumors surrounding a Resident Evil Zero Remake, new claims suggest both projects could share important narrative links with Resident Evil Requiem.

While Capcom has yet to officially comment on those connections, longtime Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem believes the relationship between the three games is more than coincidence.

Code Veronica And Zero Reportedly Tie Into Requiem

Speaking on ResetEra, Dusk Golem addressed recent speculation regarding Capcom’s remake strategy and how upcoming Resident Evil projects fit into the broader timeline.

According to the insider, both Code Veronica Remake and the rumored Resident Evil Zero Remake have connections to Requiem, although not necessarily because Capcom is attempting to create some massive long-term remake roadmap.

Instead, the insider claims the overlap stems largely from the fact that all three projects were reportedly being developed during a similar period.

“Veronica and Zero Remake will tie into Requiem.”

However, Dusk Golem was quick to clarify that the connection appears to be driven more by development timing and story opportunities than a grand franchise-wide master plan.

According to the insider, Requiem itself reportedly establishes several narrative elements that naturally allow Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero to fit more closely into the modern Resident Evil timeline.

Capcom Is Reportedly Reshaping Code Veronica’s Story

One of the more interesting details surrounding the remake emerged shortly after its reveal.

Reports suggested that Capcom intends to adjust and expand portions of Code Veronica’s narrative in order to better align it with the current Resident Evil canon.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the core story will change dramatically, but it does indicate the developer is willing to revisit older lore and reinterpret certain events where necessary.

If the latest claims are accurate, those narrative changes could help establish stronger links between Code Veronica, Resident Evil Zero, and Requiem.

For longtime fans, that’s particularly significant because both games contain important story elements involving the origins of Umbrella, the Ashford family, and several major characters that continue to influence the Resident Evil universe.

Don’t Expect Resident Evil 5 Or 6 Remakes Anytime Soon

While discussion surrounding Code Veronica and Zero continues to intensify, Dusk Golem also addressed another topic that many fans have been asking about: Resident Evil 5 Remake and Resident Evil 6 Remake.

According to the insider, Capcom currently has no plans to move forward with either project.

“There is no plan to remake RE5/RE6 right now.”

The insider went on to claim that Capcom isn’t actively pursuing a strategy of remaking every Resident Evil title in chronological order and that the company remains undecided about how it would even approach modern versions of Resident Evil 5 and 6.

In fact, Dusk Golem suggested Capcom itself may not currently know what direction it would take with those games if remakes were ever approved.

Capcom’s Strategy Appears More Flexible

One recurring theme throughout the comments is that Capcom reportedly does not operate with an enormous decade-long roadmap for Resident Evil.

Instead, the publisher is said to evaluate the franchise every few years and adjust its direction based on current opportunities, technology, and player demand.

According to Dusk Golem, Capcom generally plans around five years ahead before reassessing where the series should go next.

That flexible approach may explain why projects such as Requiem, Code Veronica, and Resident Evil Zero appear to be naturally connecting rather than following a strict remake blueprint.

An Exciting Future For Resident Evil Fans

Whether or not every detail proves accurate, one thing is clear: Resident Evil fans have plenty to look forward to.

Resident Evil Requiem is already shaping up to be one of Capcom’s biggest releases, while the long-awaited return of Code Veronica gives players a chance to revisit one of the franchise’s most beloved stories on modern hardware.

And if the rumored Resident Evil Zero Remake eventually becomes reality, Capcom could be building one of the strongest periods the series has seen in years.

For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation—but the possibility of seeing these three games connected in meaningful ways is certainly an exciting prospect.
