While Insomniac Games previously confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would not receive any story DLC, the studio continues to support the game with new cosmetic content and community-focused updates.
Now, Spider-Man fans have something new to look forward to, as Insomniac has officially revealed a free suit inspired by the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie.
The New “Fresh Start” Suit Arrives July 28
The announcement was made through Insomniac’s official social media channels, confirming that a brand-new outfit called Fresh Start will be added to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as a free update.
The suit is directly inspired by Peter Parker’s appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the next film in Sony and Marvel’s live-action Spider-Man series starring Tom Holland.
Players on both PlayStation 5 and PC will be able to unlock the suit when the update launches on July 28, just a few days before the movie hits theaters worldwide on July 31.
Fans who watched the latest Brand New Day trailer may already recognize the outfit, as it features prominently during several scenes showcasing Peter’s newest chapter.
Brand New Day Introduces A New Beginning For Peter Parker
The upcoming movie picks up after the dramatic events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker made the ultimate sacrifice by allowing the world to forget his identity.
As a result, Peter finds himself completely alone.
Without friends, family, or allies who remember who he is, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man must rebuild his life from scratch while facing a new series of threats. Early promotional material also suggests Peter is struggling with strange changes to his powers, creating additional challenges as he attempts to protect New York.
The film will also introduce several notable Marvel characters, including Bruce Banner and Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher, who are expected to play important roles throughout the story.
No Story DLC, But Spider-Man 2 Continues To Grow
Back in 2024, Insomniac confirmed that there were no plans for a large-scale story expansion similar to The City That Never Sleeps DLC released for the original Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Despite that decision, the developer has continued releasing quality-of-life updates, accessibility improvements, performance enhancements, and cosmetic additions for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
The Fresh Start suit is simply the latest example of Insomniac finding ways to keep players engaged while the studio works on future projects.
Could This Be The Last Major Spider-Man 2 Cosmetic?
With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 approaching its third year on the market, many fans are beginning to wonder how much post-launch support remains.
The addition of a movie tie-in suit suggests Sony and Insomniac still see value in keeping the game connected to Marvel’s broader Spider-Man universe. However, the developer has yet to reveal whether more movie-inspired cosmetics or crossover content are planned beyond July.
For now, Spider-Man fans can at least look forward to swinging through New York in Peter Parker’s newest cinematic outfit before heading to theaters to watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day later this summer.
