Ubisoft Announces Ghost Recon Insider Program for Upcoming Game

Ubisoft has officially announced a new Ghost Recon Insider Program, giving selected players an opportunity to participate in closed tests for the next game in the long-running tactical shooter franchise.

The program was revealed during the 25th anniversary celebration for Ghost Recon, alongside several other announcements, including a next-gen upgrade for Ghost Recon Wildlands and free play periods for both Wildlands and Breakpoint.

While Ubisoft still isn’t ready to fully reveal its next Ghost Recon game, the launch of the Insider Program suggests that players could soon get their first opportunity to experience it.

Ghost Recon Insider Program Offers Access to Closed Tests

The new Ghost Recon Insider Program will allow registered players to participate in closed testing sessions for the upcoming Ghost Recon game.

Ubisoft will use these tests to collect player feedback throughout development, potentially giving selected members of the community an opportunity to influence the final experience.

Registration is already available, with players able to choose between three platforms:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Ubisoft Connect PC

To register, players must select their preferred platform, sign into their Ubisoft account, and complete a survey.

Registration doesn’t necessarily guarantee access to every test, but it places players into the pool of potential participants for future Ghost Recon testing sessions.

The Next Ghost Recon Is Getting Closer

Ubisoft hasn’t formally revealed the next major Ghost Recon game yet, making the announcement of the Insider Program particularly interesting.

The last completely new mainline release was Ghost Recon Breakpoint in 2019, meaning fans have now been waiting several years for the franchise to return.

Since then, numerous reports have suggested that Ubisoft has been developing another major Ghost Recon project.

Launching a dedicated testing program indicates that development has progressed far enough for Ubisoft to begin preparing external playtests, even if the publisher isn’t ready to show the game publicly.

Ghost Recon Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary

The Insider Program wasn’t the only announcement made during the franchise’s anniversary event.

Ubisoft also officially revealed a current-generation upgrade for Ghost Recon Wildlands, bringing the popular open-world tactical shooter forward to newer hardware.

Additionally, Ubisoft is offering free play days for Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint, allowing players to experience both games without purchasing them during the promotional period.

The celebration serves as a reminder of just how long Ghost Recon has been part of Ubisoft’s portfolio, with the franchise producing numerous mainline games, expansions, and spin-offs over the past 25 years.

Ubisoft Still Keeping the New Game Secret

Despite opening registration for closed tests, Ubisoft is still keeping details about the next Ghost Recon under wraps.

There is currently no official title, release date, gameplay reveal, or detailed description of what direction the franchise will take next.

However, the existence of the Insider Program means selected players could potentially see the game long before the general public does.

After years without a new mainline installment, Ghost Recon is clearly preparing for its next chapter, and the newly announced Insider Program could be the first major step toward Ubisoft finally revealing what comes after Breakpoint.
