Remedy Entertainment has enormous expectations for Control Resonant, with the company describing its upcoming action RPG as a “must-have day-one purchase” while outlining plans to transform Control into a long-term franchise.
The comments arrived as part of Remedy’s 2026 Half-Year Financial Report, which provided updates on several of the studio’s major projects, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes.
Control Resonant was one of the biggest talking points, and Remedy appears increasingly confident about the game following positive previews and strong early pre-order performance.

Remedy Wants Control Resonant to Be an ‘Outstanding Game’
Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon discussed the company’s ambitions for Control Resonant during the latest financial report.
According to Gaudechon, Remedy’s primary objective is straightforward: deliver an outstanding game.
That ambition even influenced the release date selected for Resonant, with Remedy attempting to position the game in a window where it can stand out despite an extremely competitive second half of 2026.
The CEO described the company’s positioning clearly:
“Our first priority is to ship an outstanding game, and that guided how we selected the release date. We position CONTROL Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building CONTROL into a lasting franchise.”
It’s a confident statement from Remedy, particularly considering the number of major releases arriving around the same period.
Control Resonant Pre-Orders Are Already Performing Strongly
Remedy’s confidence isn’t based entirely on internal expectations.
Control Resonant has reportedly received substantial praise following recent hands-on preview events, where media outlets and content creators were able to experience a significant portion of the game.
That positive reception appears to be translating into consumer interest.
According to Remedy, following the opening of pre-orders, Control Resonant ranked among the top three most pre-ordered games in the United States, Germany, and Brazil.
That’s an encouraging early result for Remedy as it attempts to significantly expand the audience established by the original Control.

Remedy Wants Control to Become a Lasting Franchise
Resonant isn’t being treated as simply another sequel.
Remedy sees the game as an important step toward establishing Control as one of the company’s long-term flagship franchises.
The original Control became one of Remedy’s most recognizable games, combining supernatural storytelling, destructible environments, unusual abilities, and the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control.
Resonant is expanding considerably on that foundation, with Remedy targeting a broader action-RPG audience while maintaining the strange identity that made the first game stand out.
The company believes the sequel’s distinctiveness will be particularly important when competing against other major releases.
Control Resonant Faces a Brutal September Release Window
One of Remedy’s biggest challenges is simply how crowded the release calendar has become.
Control Resonant arrives during a September packed with major games, including:
- The Blood of Dawnwalker
- NBA 2K27
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword
- Marvel’s Wolverine
Several other notable releases will also compete for players’ attention and money throughout the month.
Remedy acknowledges that Resonant is launching during a competitive autumn window but believes the game’s quality and distinctive identity will allow it to stand apart.
The studio also noted that the release calendar has become slightly less crowded since Control Resonant was originally revealed, strengthening its confidence in the chosen launch window.
Resonant Will Launch Across All Major Platforms
Remedy is also attempting to maximize the game’s audience from the beginning.
Unlike games tied to a single console ecosystem, Control Resonant will launch across all major supported platforms on day one.
Remedy has also highlighted what it considers attractive pricing for an AAA release, another factor the company hopes will encourage players to pick up the game immediately rather than waiting for discounts.
Combined with strong preview impressions and encouraging pre-order numbers, Remedy believes it has positioned Resonant well for launch.
Control Resonant Could Be a Huge Game for Remedy
There’s plenty riding on Control Resonant.
Remedy isn’t hiding the fact that it wants the sequel to be considerably bigger than the original game and help establish Control as a franchise capable of supporting future projects.
Early signs appear promising, with strong hands-on impressions and top-three pre-order rankings in several major markets.
Now the challenge is converting that early enthusiasm into sales when the game launches during one of the busiest periods of 2026.
Remedy certainly isn’t lacking confidence. The studio isn’t merely calling Control Resonant its next big release—it’s positioning it as one of the games players shouldn’t miss in 2026.
