The end of the Final Fantasy 7 remake saga is getting closer.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation made another major appearance during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, where Square Enix debuted a new trailer packed with gameplay and story teases.
The biggest announcement, however, was saved for the game’s release window.
Square Enix has now officially confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will launch in Spring 2027, narrowing down when players will finally get to experience the conclusion of the ambitious trilogy.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Launches in Spring 2027
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s appearance at Opening Night Live wasn’t exactly a surprise.
Square Enix had already confirmed ahead of Gamescom that game director Naoki Hamaguchi would present a new look at Revelation during the showcase, immediately making it one of the event’s most anticipated appearances.
While a Spring 2027 launch had previously been widely expected, Gamescom finally gave us official confirmation.
The accompanying trailer delivered a mixture of new gameplay, cinematic sequences, and major story teases, providing another glimpse at just how ambitious Square Enix is getting with the trilogy’s final chapter.
After Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth dramatically expanded and, at times, altered elements of the original game’s story, Revelation has the difficult job of bringing everything together.
And expectations surrounding its ending are already enormous.
Previous comments surrounding the project have suggested that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s conclusion could deliver something players aren’t expecting, raising even more questions about how closely the final game will ultimately follow the events of the 1997 original.

The newly released Gamescom footage naturally doesn’t provide all those answers, but it certainly continues teasing what should be an enormous conclusion for Cloud and the rest of the party.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation serves as the third and final installment in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 remake project.
What began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake has grown considerably beyond simply recreating the original RPG with modern visuals.
Rebirth dramatically expanded the scale of the world, while the trilogy’s increasingly unpredictable narrative has ensured that even longtime fans can’t be completely certain about what will happen next.
That puts Revelation in an interesting position.
Square Enix needs to conclude storylines established across two enormous games while simultaneously delivering its interpretation of some of the original Final Fantasy 7’s most memorable remaining locations, characters, and events.
Based on what we’ve seen from its Gamescom trailer, the studio certainly isn’t approaching the finale conservatively.
With a Spring 2027 release window now officially locked in, the wait for the conclusion is finally becoming much easier to measure.
More details, including an exact release date, should emerge as we move closer to 2027.
