LEGO Skylines has officially been revealed at Gamescom 2026, bringing together the creativity of LEGO with the city-building expertise of Paradox Interactive and Iceflake Studios.
Building cities out of LEGO bricks feels like one of those ideas that should have happened years ago, but now it’s finally becoming a reality.
During Gamescom 2026, Paradox Interactive and developer Iceflake Studios officially announced LEGO Skylines, a new city-building game designed to give players the freedom to construct everything from enormous LEGO metropolises to smaller, more unusual towns.
The game is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

LEGO Skylines Brings City Building to the World of LEGO
LEGO Skylines takes the familiar concept of constructing and managing a city and rebuilds it around the creativity associated with LEGO.
Rather than simply creating another LEGO-themed game, Iceflake Studios wants players to have considerable freedom over what their cities eventually become.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, the developer explained:
“With LEGO Skylines, we want to turn city building into a more personal experience, where only your imagination limits what kind of cities you can build. We can’t wait to see how players bring their dreams to life in it.”
The collaboration is particularly interesting because of Paradox Interactive’s extensive history with the city-building genre.
The publisher is responsible for the Cities: Skylines franchise, while Iceflake Studios has previously worked within the broader simulation and management space. Combining that experience with LEGO’s focus on unrestricted creativity could give LEGO Skylines considerably more depth than a traditional licensed LEGO title.
The LEGO Group also has ambitious expectations for the project.
According to representatives, the goal wasn’t simply to create a LEGO city builder, but to produce something capable of competing with the best games in the genre.
“From the beginning, our ambition wasn’t just to make a LEGO city-builder, it was to create a game that is considered among the best in the genre.”
Players will be able to approach their creations in different ways, whether they want to construct a massive metropolitan city, a small seaside settlement, or something considerably stranger.
That combination of traditional city-building mechanics and LEGO’s almost limitless construction possibilities could make LEGO Skylines one of the more intriguing announcements to come out of Gamescom this year.
The announcement trailer provides our first look at the game’s brick-built world, but there is still plenty we don’t know. Further details regarding its management systems, construction mechanics, progression, and release date are expected closer to launch.
