Mafia 2: Definitive Edition and Mafia 3: Definitive Edition have received new ESRB ratings for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, suggesting native current-generation versions could be on the way.
New listings on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website have appeared for both games, specifically mentioning PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The discovery follows a similar rating for Mafia: Definitive Edition earlier this year, raising the possibility that all three games could receive updated console releases.
Mafia Definitive Editions Could Be Coming to Current-Gen Consoles
Both titles have received an M (Mature 17+) rating, consistent with their violent content, strong language and mature themes.
Mafia 2: Definitive Edition originally launched as an HD remaster of the second game, including its downloadable content.
Mafia 3: Definitive Edition, meanwhile, bundled the original game with its story expansions and additional content rather than introducing a full remaster.
The new ratings suggest that 2K may be preparing dedicated PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, although no technical improvements, release dates or pricing details have been confirmed.
It’s also unclear whether existing owners would receive an upgrade or need to purchase the games again.
Neither 2K nor Hangar 13 has officially announced the new versions, but with ESRB ratings now appearing for all three Definitive Editions, an announcement could be approaching.
