Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 has appeared on IMDb with an “In Production” status, sparking fresh speculation that Insomniac Games may already be working on the next installment in its hugely successful superhero series.

It has been almost three years since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 arrived, and while Insomniac is currently preparing to launch Marvel’s Wolverine, fans are understandably wondering when Peter Parker and Miles Morales will return.

The new IMDb listing is interesting, but there’s one major catch: Insomniac Games hasn’t officially announced Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 yet.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Listed as ‘In Production’

The IMDb listing was spotted online by SpiderManCD and contains several details surrounding the potential sequel.

According to the page, Bryan Intihar and Ryan Smith are listed as directors, which would make sense considering both played major roles in the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

The listing also names Yuri Lowenthal as Peter Parker, suggesting the actor would return to voice the character in the third game.

However, the detail attracting the most attention is the project’s production status.

IMDb currently lists Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 as “In Production.”

On the surface, that would appear to confirm that development is already underway, but IMDb listings aren’t necessarily official confirmation of a project.

Until Insomniac or Sony makes an announcement, the information should therefore be treated cautiously.

Spider-Man 3 Hasn’t Been Officially Announced

Despite how inevitable another Spider-Man game might seem, Insomniac hasn’t formally announced Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was both critically and commercially successful, while its ending clearly left several narrative threads open for future games.

That makes a third installment extremely likely, but an IMDb page appearing online isn’t enough to confirm its current development status.

Information on IMDb can sometimes be submitted or edited before projects are officially revealed, meaning the “In Production” label shouldn’t be considered definitive evidence by itself.

Insomniac Leak Previously Mentioned Spider-Man 3

The listing becomes more interesting when compared to information that emerged from the enormous Insomniac Games leak.

Leaked internal material indicated that the studio had plans for several Marvel projects following Spider-Man 2.

At the time, the reported roadmap included a Venom game, followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, another Ratchet & Clank title, and eventually an X-Men game.

However, development plans can change significantly over several years.

Projects can be delayed, reorganized, expanded, or cancelled entirely, meaning Insomniac’s current roadmap doesn’t necessarily match the one exposed through the previous leak.

Marvel’s Wolverine Is Insomniac’s Current Priority

For now, Insomniac’s attention is firmly focused on Marvel’s Wolverine, which launches for PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026.

The game represents the studio’s next major step in building its connected Marvel universe and will introduce Logan alongside characters including Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Deathstrike.

Insomniac has also recently confirmed that Spider-Man himself won’t appear in Wolverine.

That doesn’t mean the two franchises won’t eventually cross paths, particularly as Insomniac continues expanding its own Marvel gaming universe.

Spider-Man 3 Feels Inevitable, But We’re Still Waiting

Considering the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, it would be surprising if Insomniac didn’t eventually produce a third mainline game.

The previous leak, unresolved storylines from Spider-Man 2, and now the appearance of an IMDb listing all provide plenty for fans to speculate about.

Still, there is currently no official Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 announcement from Insomniac Games or Sony.

For now, the IMDb listing is an interesting development rather than confirmation.

With Marvel’s Wolverine almost here, however, attention will inevitably begin shifting toward whatever Insomniac plans to do next—and Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 remains one of the most obvious possibilities.
