Capcom has officially released a brand-new free update for Resident Evil: Requiem, introducing an action-heavy bonus mode called Leon Must Die Forever.
The update became available on May 8 and adds a fast-paced arcade-style experience centered entirely around Leon S. Kennedy.
A New Action-Focused Survival Mode
Unlocked after completing the main story, Leon Must Die Forever introduces a challenge-based mode where players fight through multiple stages against waves of enemies while racing against the clock.
The mode strongly resembles the classic Mercenaries-style gameplay longtime Resident Evil fans will instantly recognize, but with several new twists.
Throughout each run, players can obtain randomized enhancer abilities that change gameplay dynamics and help Leon survive increasingly difficult encounters before facing a final boss battle.
Designed for Both Casual and Hardcore Players
According to Capcom, the mode includes adjustable difficulty options designed to appeal to different types of players.
Those looking for fast-paced action can simply enjoy the intense combat and stylish gunplay, while hardcore fans can push themselves through higher difficulties for a much tougher survival challenge.
The update further strengthens the action side of Resident Evil: Requiem, which already blends survival horror with more cinematic combat sequences.
Additional Improvements Included
Alongside the new mode, the update also introduces several technical improvements and bug fixes.
Notably, the patch adds:
- DualSense support for PC players
- Fixes for progression-related issues
- General gameplay stability improvements
Capcom continues refining the experience as the game’s player base keeps growing.
Resident Evil Requiem Continues Its Strong Momentum
Since launch, Resident Evil: Requiem has surpassed 7 million copies sold worldwide, becoming another major success for Capcom.
The strong sales performance has reportedly contributed to the company once again raising its financial outlook for the year, further cementing Resident Evil as one of Capcom’s most valuable franchises.
And now, with Leon Must Die Forever bringing classic arcade-style chaos back into the mix, fans have even more reasons to jump back into the nightmare.
