After years of uncertainty, delays, studio closures, and development troubles, The Wolf Among Us 2 is finally back.
During this year’s Summer Game Fest, Telltale Games and AdHoc Studio officially confirmed that the long-awaited sequel will launch in 2027, more than a decade after the release of the original game.
Many fans had started to wonder whether the game would ever see the light of day.
A Sequel More Than 13 Years in the Making
The original The Wolf Among Us launched in 2013 and quickly became one of Telltale’s most beloved narrative adventures.
Based on Bill Willingham’s acclaimed Fables comic series, the game followed Bigby Wolf, the reformed Big Bad Wolf who serves as sheriff of Fabletown, a hidden community populated by characters from classic fairy tales.
Its mature storytelling, memorable cast, and difficult choices helped turn it into a cult classic.
Now, after thirteen years, Bigby’s story is finally continuing.
Development Survived Massive Challenges
The road to The Wolf Among Us 2 has been anything but smooth.
The game was originally announced during The Game Awards 2019, generating enormous excitement among fans.
However, multiple layoffs, restructuring efforts, and Telltale’s well-documented collapse in 2018 left many questioning whether the sequel would ever be completed.
Against all odds, development continued.
And now, players finally have confirmation that the project is alive and moving toward release.

The Story Continues Immediately After the Original
While the reveal trailer didn’t dive deeply into the plot, Telltale confirmed that The Wolf Among Us 2 follows directly after the events of the first game.
Players will once again step into the shoes of Bigby Wolf as he navigates the dark, dangerous world of Fabletown and its inhabitants.
Given the cliffhangers and unresolved storylines from the original, fans have been waiting a very long time to discover what happens next.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered Arrives First
Surprisingly, The Wolf Among Us 2 wasn’t the only announcement.
Telltale also revealed The Wolf Among Us Remastered, which is scheduled to launch during Holiday 2026.
The remaster will allow both returning fans and newcomers to experience Bigby’s original adventure before the sequel arrives.
While specific upgrades weren’t detailed, players can likely expect enhanced visuals, improved performance, and modern platform support.
Considering the original game launched more than a decade ago, there is plenty of room for modernization.
A Perfect Opportunity for New Players
For anyone who missed the original release, The Wolf Among Us remains one of Telltale’s strongest narrative experiences.
The game combines detective work, mature themes, brutal violence, and meaningful choices within a unique fantasy setting where familiar fairy tale characters are forced to survive in the modern world.
With the remaster arriving first, new players will have plenty of time to catch up before the sequel finally lands.
One of Summer Game Fest’s Most Emotional Reveals
Few announcements at Summer Game Fest carried as much emotional weight as seeing The Wolf Among Us 2 appear once again.
For years, the project became synonymous with development uncertainty and cancelled-game fears.
Now, after countless setbacks, Bigby Wolf is finally returning.
And if the reaction from fans is anything to go by, Fabletown has been missed.
