Ubisoft has announced that Christoph Hartmann, the co-founder of 2K Games, is joining the company as the new General Manager of Creative House 2, a division dedicated to developing competitive and cooperative action games built around some of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises.
The appointment comes as Ubisoft continues rolling out its new internal structure introduced earlier this year, dividing development across five Creative Houses designed to streamline production and strengthen long-term franchise support.

Christoph Hartmann Takes Charge of Creative House 2
Creative House 2 will oversee several of Ubisoft’s largest tactical and multiplayer-focused series, including:
- Tom Clancy’s The Division
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell
- March of Giants, Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play multiplayer MOBA
Hartmann brings decades of industry experience to the role after spending more than 20 years at Take-Two Interactive, where he co-founded 2K Games and served as its president until 2017.
During his time at 2K, he helped build several of gaming’s biggest franchises, including:
- Borderlands
- BioShock
- Sid Meier’s Civilization
- NBA 2K
- XCOM
He also played a supporting role during the early years of the Grand Theft Auto franchise before later joining Amazon Games as Vice President.

Ubisoft Bets on Stronger Franchise Leadership
According to Ubisoft, Creative House 2 has been designed to focus specifically on large-scale competitive and cooperative experiences while giving development studios greater creative support under a unified leadership structure.
The Creative House includes teams from:
- Massive Entertainment
- Ubisoft Montreal
- Ubisoft Paris
- Ubisoft Toronto
- March of Giants
Speaking about his new role, Hartmann said:
“The talented teams at March of Giants, Massive, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Paris, and Ubisoft Toronto have always known how to create worlds that players lose themselves in. With Creative House 2, we are giving them the structure, support and vision to go further—to build the kind of intense, unforgettable experiences that remind players why they fell in love with games in the first place.”
Yves Guillemot Welcomes the Industry Veteran
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot praised the appointment, describing Hartmann as the ideal leader for the company’s shooter-focused division.
According to Guillemot:
“Christoph is exactly the kind of leader we needed for Creative House 2. His experience across development and publishing gives him a rare understanding of what it takes to build great games and enduring franchises.”
Ubisoft believes Hartmann’s leadership will help strengthen its Tom Clancy portfolio while expanding future multiplayer experiences.
A Key Moment for Ubisoft
The appointment comes during a significant period of change for Ubisoft.
Recent months have seen the publisher reorganize its development structure, implement layoffs at several studios, and place increased emphasis on its largest franchises. Bringing in one of the industry’s most experienced publishing executives signals Ubisoft’s intention to reinforce long-term support for brands like Ghost Recon, The Division, and Splinter Cell.
Whether this new structure translates into stronger releases remains to be seen, but Hartmann’s arrival represents one of Ubisoft’s most notable executive hires in recent years.
