Autobahn Police Simulator 4 has officially been announced, with publisher Aerosoft and developer Z-Software revealing the next entry in the long-running German police simulation series.
The fourth game promises the biggest and most varied open world in the franchise so far, allowing players to patrol unrestricted Autobahns, country roads, towns, industrial areas, and residential districts while responding to everything from routine traffic stops to major accidents and high-speed pursuits.
Autobahn Police Simulator 4 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a release planned for 2026.
Autobahn Police Simulator 4 Expands Beyond the Autobahn
While Germany’s famous unrestricted highways remain at the heart of the experience, Autobahn Police Simulator 4 is considerably expanding the areas officers can patrol.
The new fully drivable open world includes highways, rest stops, petrol stations, country roads, residential neighbourhoods, industrial districts, forests, mountains, and small towns.
Z-Software is also overhauling the game’s visuals, with more varied environments designed to give different patrol areas their own identity.
Players won’t simply be driving around waiting for something to happen, either.
Police radio calls can arrive at any moment, presenting situations ranging from ordinary roadside incidents to emergencies requiring an immediate response.
Traffic Stops Can Turn Into Bigger Investigations
Traffic stops once again play a major role in Autobahn Police Simulator 4.
Players can pull over suspicious vehicles, inspect documents, examine cars, and determine whether drivers have committed an offence.
However, seemingly routine encounters can develop into something considerably more serious.
A standard vehicle inspection could uncover another crime, while drivers may refuse to cooperate and attempt to flee, forcing officers into a high-speed pursuit.
Accidents will also require players to secure the scene and assist those involved while following proper police procedures.
The emphasis appears to be on making individual incidents less predictable, with radio calls capable of developing into larger operations depending on the circumstances.

Successfully completing assignments and following proper procedures earns reputation within the police force.
As your reputation increases, you’ll be able to climb through the ranks and unlock new vehicles, equipment, and police stations.
Several types of police vehicles will be available.
Traditional marked patrol cars serve as the everyday option for responding to emergencies, while unmarked police vehicles provide a more discreet method of observing suspicious drivers before making a move.
Players will also discover multiple police stations throughout the world as their career progresses.
Alongside standard radio dispatches, Autobahn Police Simulator 4 features special operations and optional side missions, providing additional activities away from regular patrol work.
Autobahn Police Simulator Returns After More Than a Decade
The Autobahn Police Simulator franchise originally launched in 2015, placing players on approximately 40 kilometres of German motorway.
The first game established many of the mechanics that would define the series, including responding to accidents, inspecting vehicles and truck cargo, testing drivers for alcohol and drugs, and chasing motorists who refused to stop.
Autobahn Police Simulator 2 expanded the concept considerably by introducing a functioning police station, colleagues with their own routines, career progression, specialist vehicles, and a cinematic campaign featuring more than 20 connected missions.
The third game introduced another rookie officer who returned to duty following a serious accident connected to an illegal street race. Its expansions later added motorcycle patrols, tactical speed traps, off-road investigations, and police dog Dexter.
Autobahn Police Simulator 4 aims to build upon all three games while beginning what Aerosoft describes as a new era for the franchise.

Autobahn Police Simulator 4 will launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.
Aerosoft has confirmed that both digital and physical editions are planned.
An exact release date, pricing, PC system requirements, age ratings, and additional language support have not yet been announced.
With a larger open world, multiple police stations, career progression, unmarked vehicles, unpredictable radio calls, and an expanded variety of environments, Autobahn Police Simulator 4 is shaping up to be the most ambitious entry in the series yet.
