Gamescom 2026 Schedule Reveals Packed Week of Gaming Showcases

Gamescom 2026 is almost here, bringing several days of major gaming announcements, new trailers, gameplay reveals, developer interviews, and playable demos to Cologne, Germany.

The main event runs from August 26 through August 30, but those watching from home won’t have to wait quite that long. Gamescom Opening Night Live kicks things off on August 25, while Xbox, Future Games Show, and Gamescom Awesome Indies will keep the announcements coming throughout the week.

Gamescom Opening Night Live Starts August 25

Gamescom Opening Night Live will once again serve as the big opening showcase, taking place on August 25.

The event begins with a 30-minute pre-show at 7:30 PM CEST, followed by the main presentation at 8 PM CEST. Geoff Keighley and Eefje Depoortere will host the show, which promises new announcements, trailers, gameplay footage, and several surprises.

A few major appearances have already been confirmed. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will receive another look during the show, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past expansion will also make an appearance.

With Opening Night Live traditionally delivering some of Gamescom’s biggest reveals, plenty more should remain under wraps until the broadcast begins.

Xbox Has Two Gamescom 2026 Broadcasts Planned

Xbox is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the brand with a major Gamescom presence, including two separate livestreams from Cologne.

The first Xbox Gamescom broadcast takes place on August 26 at 4 PM CEST, followed by a second show on August 27 at the same time.

Both broadcasts are expected to feature new gameplay, trailers, developer interviews, and updates on upcoming Xbox releases.

There will also be plenty happening on the show floor. Gears of War: E-Day will offer its first public hands-on campaign demo, while Playground Games will present Fable through a live gameplay theater presentation.

Other major games connected to Xbox’s Gamescom lineup include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Minecraft Dungeons 2, Metro 2039, Stranger Than Heaven, and Forza Horizon 6.

Future Games Show Returns With More Than 90 Minutes of Games

Future Games Show at Gamescom 2026 is scheduled for August 26 at 7 PM CEST, just a few hours after Xbox’s first broadcast.

Resident Evil Requiem actors Nick Apostolides and Angela Sant’Albano will host the presentation, which is expected to run for more than 90 minutes.

Viewers can expect world premieres, exclusive trailers, developer deep dives, and new demos from upcoming games.

The coverage won’t end when the main showcase finishes, either. FGS Live from Gamescom will immediately follow with additional announcements, interviews, and coverage directly from the event in Cologne.

Gamescom Awesome Indies is also planned for August 27, while FGS Best of Gamescom will close out the week on August 30 at 7 PM CEST.

Gamescom 2026 Has Plenty of Playable Games

The livestreams are only one part of Gamescom, with attendees getting the opportunity to play several major upcoming releases.

Confirmed games appearing at the event include Gears of War: E-Day, Rayman Legends Retold, Stranger Than Heaven, Minecraft Dungeons 2, Forza Horizon 6, Persona 4 Revival, Alien Isolation 2, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.

Nintendo, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Sega, Krafton, NetEase Games, HoYoverse, Team17, and numerous other publishers and developers are also confirmed for this year’s event.

With Opening Night Live, two Xbox broadcasts, Future Games Show, Awesome Indies, and a packed show floor all squeezed into a single week, Gamescom 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest remaining gaming events of the year.
