Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine Goes Gold More Than Three Weeks Ahead of Release

Marvel’s Wolverine has officially gone gold more than three weeks before its September 15 release, with Insomniac Games celebrating the milestone by showing off Logan’s golden claws.

One of PlayStation’s biggest releases of 2026 is now officially ready for launch. Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine has gone gold, meaning the studio has completed the release build ahead of its arrival next month.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches exclusively for PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026, giving Insomniac more than three weeks between reaching the milestone and the game hitting store shelves.

The upcoming superhero title represents a considerable departure from Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, promising a darker story, significantly more brutal combat, and a more focused experience built around Logan.

Insomniac Celebrates Marvel’s Wolverine Going Gold With Golden Claws

Insomniac Games announced the news through its official social media channels, sharing a short video showing Wolverine extending a pair of golden claws.

Better yet, they aren’t simply part of the promotional video.

Insomniac confirmed that players will actually be able to unlock and equip the Gold Claws in Marvel’s Wolverine, giving Logan a particularly flashy alternative to his iconic adamantium blades.

For those unfamiliar with the term, a game “going gold” traditionally means its primary development build has been completed and approved for release. While Insomniac will almost certainly continue working on updates, bug fixes, and potential launch-day patches, Marvel’s Wolverine is now essentially ready for its September launch.

It also makes another delay increasingly unlikely.

Wolverine Brings a Much Darker Marvel Adventure to PS5

Marvel’s Wolverine will see Logan rejoin Team X, a mutant task force that plays a major role in the upcoming story.

Bolivar Trask has begun kidnapping mutants, putting Wolverine on a violent journey to uncover what is happening and put a stop to his plans.

Unlike Insomniac’s open-world Spider-Man games, Wolverine offers a more linear and focused structure, while still taking players across several dramatically different locations.

The journey will include Canada, Japan, and Madripoor, Marvel’s infamous fictional island nation frequently associated with Wolverine and the wider X-Men universe.

Logan won’t be completely alone either. Several recognizable mutants are set to appear throughout the story, including Jean Grey and Sabretooth, although Insomniac has already confirmed that Wolverine will remain the game’s only playable character.

Combat is also considerably more violent than anything Insomniac has previously delivered with its Marvel games. Wolverine’s claws are put to appropriately brutal use, fitting the character’s aggressive fighting style and the game’s significantly more mature tone.

With development now reaching the gold milestone, there isn’t much longer to wait before players can finally get their hands—and claws—on Insomniac’s next Marvel adventure.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
