New God of War Game Starring Faye Could Reportedly Be Revealed Later This Month

PlayStation may be preparing for a massive first-party showcase as multiple insiders now claim a brand-new God of War project could finally be revealed before the end of May.

And according to the latest rumors, this time Kratos may not be the main focus.

Several industry insiders are now pointing toward a spin-off game centered around Faye, also known as Laufey the Just — Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother — potentially giving players their very first chance to experience the Norse saga through her perspective.

“Faye of War” Immediately Sparked Speculation

The rumors started gaining momentum after multiple insiders on X claimed that PlayStation is preparing a new State of Play presentation for May 24, 2026.

The situation escalated even further when well-known leaker The Snitch posted a cryptic three-word tease:

“Faye of War.”

That single phrase was enough to send the entire God of War community into speculation mode, with many fans instantly interpreting it as a direct tease for a standalone Faye-focused project from Santa Monica Studio.

Other insiders, including Detective Seeds, have also hinted that Sony has several major announcements planned for the rumored showcase.

A Perfect Chance to Explore the Untold Side of the Norse Saga

Despite being one of the most important characters in the entire Norse storyline, Faye herself has largely remained a mystery throughout both God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök.

Most of her story was told indirectly through memories, environmental storytelling, and conversations between other characters.

A standalone project would finally allow players to witness:

  • Faye’s resistance against Odin and Thor
  • Her role among the Giants of Jotunheim
  • The origins of the Leviathan Axe
  • Her legendary battles before meeting Kratos

And honestly? That sounds like an incredible setup for a more magic-focused combat system mixed with the brutal axe gameplay the series is already known for.

Santa Monica Studio May Already Be Deep Into Development

It has now been nearly four years since the release of God of War Ragnarök, meaning fans have been waiting a long time to see what Santa Monica Studio has been building next.

While some players may initially be disappointed by the possibility of Kratos stepping away from the spotlight, many fans also see this as the perfect opportunity for Sony to expand the universe beyond the traditional formula.

Especially after the excellent free Valhalla DLC proved the studio is willing to experiment with smaller and more focused experiences.

Multiple insiders claiming similar information around the same timeframe also suggests this project may already be much further along than people expect.

Could the Reveal Happen at the End of May?

At the moment, nothing has been officially confirmed by Sony or Santa Monica Studio.

Still, the growing number of independent sources pointing toward the same character and reveal window has made this rumor significantly harder to ignore.

If the reports turn out to be accurate, a Faye-led God of War project could become one of the most refreshing directions the franchise has taken in years — especially if it dives deeper into Giant magic, Norse mythology, and the untold war against Asgard.

And if “Faye of War” really is happening…

…the end of May could end up being huge for PlayStation fans.
