Sony has officially announced yet another price increase for PlayStation Plus, with the changes set to take effect starting May 20 for new subscribers in select regions.
And yes… players are already frustrated.
PlayStation Plus Prices Are Increasing on May 20
According to a new statement shared by the official PlayStation account on X, monthly and three-month PlayStation Plus subscriptions will soon cost more due to what Sony describes as “ongoing market conditions.”
Here are the new starting prices for new subscribers:
- 1 Month Subscription — $10.99 USD / €9.99 EUR / £7.99 GBP
- 3 Month Subscription — $27.99 USD / €27.99 EUR / £21.99 GBP
Thankfully for existing subscribers, Sony says current pricing will remain unchanged unless users cancel, change, or renew under a different plan.
However, the company also confirmed that some regions — including Turkey and India — will follow different pricing structures.

Players Are Once Again Questioning Paid Online Gaming
Unsurprisingly, the announcement immediately reignited one of the oldest debates in console gaming:
Why are players still paying extra for online multiplayer and cloud saves in 2026?
Especially when many PC platforms continue offering those same features for free.
For a lot of fans, each new PlayStation Plus price increase makes the value conversation even harder to ignore.
And honestly, social media reactions have been pretty brutal already.

Sony Has Been Strengthening PS Plus Lineups Recently
To be fair, PlayStation Plus has been delivering some extremely strong game lineups lately.
This month alone includes:
And several additional titles through the Game Catalog.
So it’s pretty obvious Sony is trying to justify the higher pricing with larger and more valuable monthly offerings.
The real question now is whether that momentum can continue long-term.
More Price Increases May Still Be Coming
At the moment, the price increase only affects the standard PlayStation Plus tiers in select regions.
Extra and Premium subscriptions are currently untouched.
But honestly?
Most players probably expect additional increases sooner rather than later.
Especially after Sony’s latest financial reports showed the PS5 is rapidly approaching the 100 million units sold milestone.
And with the gaming industry continuing to push subscription services harder every year, this likely won’t be the last adjustment players see from PlayStation Plus.
