DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations DLC Will Take 10–12 Hours to Complete, id Software Confirms

id Software has shared new details about DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations, confirming that the upcoming story expansion will offer a substantial experience lasting between 10 and 12 hours.

Following the DLC’s reveal during the recent Xbox Games Showcase, where fans received a new trailer and release date, game director Hugo Martin has now provided fresh information about its length, story, gameplay additions, and the return of classic-inspired levels.

Revelations Will Be a Massive Expansion

Speaking in a new interview with IGN, Martin revealed that Revelations is designed as a full-scale expansion rather than a short add-on.

According to the director, the DLC’s endgame content alone makes up around 40% of the overall experience, with players expected to spend 10 to 12 hours completing the expansion.

A major part of that endgame revolves around the brand-new Chain Spear, a weapon that will play a key role in progressing through the final sections of the DLC.

Exploring the Slayer’s Origins

One of the biggest focuses of Revelations is its story.

Martin explained that the expansion will dive deeper into the origins of the Slayer before he became the legendary demon hunter players know today. Long before earning the title of the Doom Slayer, he was a marine named Flynn Taggart, and the DLC will explore more of his past through the mysterious Nightmare levels.

The expansion aims to provide additional lore surrounding the Slayer’s transformation while expanding the darker mythology introduced in DOOM: The Dark Ages.

Classic Levels Return

Fans who noticed classic-inspired environments in the reveal trailer will be pleased to hear they aren’t just references.

Martin confirmed that these nostalgic levels will be fully playable. While they won’t be lengthy, he described them as short but meaningful experiences that pay tribute to the franchise’s history.

New Enemies and Gameplay Updates

Revelations will also introduce several new enemy variants while bringing back familiar demons with updated mechanics.

Among the returning threats is the Archvile, although this version behaves differently from previous appearances. Instead of resurrecting fallen enemies, the Archvile will now summon entirely new demons into battle, creating fresh combat encounters.

The Ripatorium is also receiving new content and updates alongside the DLC, giving players even more opportunities to test weapons and combat strategies.

With a 10–12-hour campaign, expanded Slayer lore, nostalgic classic levels, new weapons, and revamped enemy encounters, DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations is shaping up to be one of id Software’s biggest post-launch expansions yet.
